Lucky 13?

6 Apr

Anyone ever noticed that the design of the Conrad Hotel features a huge “13″ its side wall facing Marina? Why is that so?

harlow… drop by to say hi… with rgds to the entry, noticed the ’13′ long time ago… i guess it’s due to superstition? i remember vaguely someone told me that the boss (from HK??) of the hotel is quite “pan-dang” one…

Hi there Yanz! Hey, leave a link so I can comment on your blog too. :D

Anyway, at first I was wondering if it were due to superstition. But, if that were the case, isn’t 13 the most unlucky number? I’ve heard of hotels in other parts of the world that totally don’t have a 13th floor. Haha…

Unless, 13 is a lucky number in Chinese custom? Btw, I stay on the 7th floor coz seven is HEAVEN. Haha… (not superstition hor, given by God during walk-in-selection). :P

“13″ in cantonese has the same sounds as “sure live” or “sure survive” in cantonese. See the superstition and desire to have better future?

Hues: Thanks for that insight! That sure makes a lot of sense if the boss is really from HK like Yanz mentioned earlier. :D
