WoW Weekend!
10 Jul
This is gonna be one of those rare posts I make without any pictures. *GASP* No pictures??? Yeah, it happens. After awhile, you sell off your camera and, drat, realize that you missed tons of great photo opportunities after that. Oh well, at least my camera is in good hands and I hope Mr. Changky is taking good care of her. My dear G3ena, I’m missing you already. *sniff*
Anyway, back to WoW. WoW is for the super fun caregroup we had on Friday! It was fun watching hilarious Gab (he seemed to find something hilarious, I don’t know what) chair for the first time, hearing the CG’s other karaoke queen Reina lead Praise for the first time and hearing Ming solo on the acoustic guitar for the first time. Indeed, it was a CG of many firsts! First time we sang “Centre of My Life” in CG as well with Wombat leading beautifully on keyboards and Zhiyi singing with tons of soul! Not forgetting, I led a workshop cum teaching for the first time too and the topic was on evangelism.
The book “Becoming a Contagious Christian” – writen by Mart Mittelberg, Lee Strobel and Bill Hybels – identifies the following different styles of evangelism:
- Confrontational Style
- Intellectual Style
- Testimonial Style
- Interpersonal Style
- Invitational Style
- Serving Style
During the workshop, we were all divided into groups of 3 and we had to roleplay a scenario where two Christians would try to evax to a person who has not heard the gospel. Needless to say, much fun and chaos ensued. Wombat was invited to join a JC Music Club and Merv, the Ah Beng wannabe, ended up intimidating the two folks reaching out to him. I guess, experiencing this makes us appreciate the acts of the apostles even more, considering how they started out with nothing but faith, a vision and the Holy Spirit, to spread the gospel amongst the gentiles, thus giving all of us a shot at salvation.
After CG, we were treated to a wonderful french fries feast by Princess Pris (our CG’s other karaoke queen) who returned the day before from a swell 14 day holiday in Germany, Holland, Belgium and England. I won’t be surprised if her world map is redder than mine now. Anyway, did I say french fries??? She didn’t go to France at all so what gives! What gives are two big bottles of German curry and mayonnaise SAUCE, to go with the french fries Gab and her picked up from MacDs. I think I’m now spoilt… I can never go back to those cheap sauces that those waiters at Macs generously hand out to you.
Me: Can give me some sauce?
MacD staff: How many packet u wan?
Me: Two enough.
MacD: Nah (grabs and handful of 6 packets and plonks it on the tray)
Me: Erh… ok, thanks.
Wife: Goody, can take home and use.
Me (before): Noooooooooooooooooooooo
Me (now): Now got high class sauce in our fridge. No need. *phew*
Apart from french fries, we also had tons of chocolates and nougats from Europe to feast on. Not forgetting some ultra crispy and addictive potato chips from Sydney courtesy of Wombat and dates from Dubai from Grace.
So, what else was WoW about the weekend? Well, went to watch War of the Worlds on Saturday. Pretty good show marred by a pathetic ending. ‘Nuff said. Can’t wait for the next weekend to come!

Great Wow for you! God is really gracious to you… hmmm maybe can think along this line for your kid’s name-something that praises God!
